TL;DR: Digital Vault stores everything locally with military-grade encryption — we collect absolutely nothing. Dead Man's Switch uses only the minimum data needed to deliver your messages — kept private and used solely for that purpose. No advertising. No data selling.

3. Our privacy philosophy

Privacy is at the core of everything we build. Here's how each app approaches it: SafeAfter: Digital Vault • 100% offline — NO internet permission required • NO servers, NO accounts, NO login • NO data transmission of any kind (except optional iCloud/Google Drive backup you control) • NO analytics or tracking • All data encrypted with AES-256, stored locally on your device only SafeAfter: Dead Man's Switch • We collect only the minimum data necessary to deliver your messages • Your messages are kept private and used solely for delivery to your chosen contacts • No advertising, no data selling, no tracking • Contact email addresses and encrypted messages stored securely on our servers solely to enable delivery

4. Information we collect

SafeAfter: Digital Vault — stored LOCALLY on your device only: • Passwords, crypto wallets, notes (SQLCipher database, AES-256 encryption) • Photos (individually encrypted) • Master encryption key (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore — hardware-backed, never exported) • Security questions and answers (hashed) • Biometric data (handled by your device OS — we never access it) • App settings and preferences OPTIONAL (Digital Vault): If you enable cloud backup: • Encrypted backup files on your iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android) • We never see your data — it's encrypted before leaving your device SafeAfter: Dead Man's Switch — stored on our secure servers: • Your account email address • Contact email addresses you provide • Encrypted messages you compose for each contact • Check-in schedule and configuration • Check-in history (timestamps only) The content of your messages is private and used solely for delivery to your chosen contacts — we do not use it for any other purpose.

5. How we use your information

SafeAfter: Digital Vault • All processing happens locally on your device • We never access, see, or transmit your data SafeAfter: Dead Man's Switch • To authenticate your account and manage your check-in schedule • To monitor check-in activity and trigger delivery when conditions are met • To deliver your encrypted messages to the email addresses you provided • We never read the content of your messages

6. Data storage and security

SafeAfter: Digital Vault • 100% local storage — zero cloud servers • SQLCipher with AES-256 encryption • Hardware-backed key storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) • Photos individually encrypted • Optional encrypted backups to iCloud or Google Drive (you control this) SafeAfter: Dead Man's Switch • Messages stored securely and used solely for delivery to your chosen contacts • Stored on secure servers until delivery is triggered • Contact emails used solely for message delivery • No third-party analytics or advertising services

7. Data sharing

We do NOT share, sell, or monetize your data. Ever. • No third-party advertising or analytics • No data sales • Digital Vault: we cannot provide your data to anyone — it's only on your device • Dead Man's Switch: contact email addresses are used solely to deliver your messages when triggered • iCloud/Google Drive backups (Digital Vault) are encrypted and fully controlled by you

8. Data retention

SafeAfter: Digital Vault • Data is retained on your device until you delete it or use "Reset data" in settings SafeAfter: Dead Man's Switch • Your data is retained on our servers for as long as your account is active • You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app • Delivered messages are removed from our servers after successful delivery

9. Your rights

• Access all your data through the respective app • Delete individual items at any time • Export your Digital Vault data via the backup feature • Delete your Dead Man's Switch account and all data from within the app • Revoke biometric access in settings (Digital Vault) • Full Digital Vault wipe: use "Reset data" in settings

10. Children's privacy

Neither app is intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account in Dead Man's Switch, contact us at support@safeafter.app and we will delete all associated data promptly.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Significant changes will also be communicated in-app.
